The Nalón Valley is an area rich in traditional craftwork due to the raw materials that naturally occur in the area. There are still basket weavers, clog makers, woodworkers, potters, stonemasons and other craftsmen working in the area.
Woodworking and basket weaving are notable in the Valley, and especially in the Redes Natural Park. These crafts that were once a way of life in the old days but have become more of a hobby, due to the new materials that have invaded every corner of the village houses.
One of the most important woodworking crafts apart from house construction, musical instruments and woodcarving, is the making of the traditional Asturian clog, still in use in rural areas.
The visitor can still see this craft that is one of the identifying marks of the Redes Natural Park, by visiting the Wood Museum in Veneros and the Clog workshop in Pendones.
